Mehrdad Aladin, a journalist and documentary maker, has been arrested

Mehrdad Aladin, a documentary filmmaker and journalist from the “Didban Iran” news agency, was arrested on January 7, 2024 after attending the Evin Prosecutor’s Office.

The Didban Iran news agency reported that Mehrdad (Mohammad Hossein) Aladin, a correspondent for the agency, was arrested after being summoned to the Evin Prosecutor’s Office in Tehran and appearing there.

Voice of America also confirmed the news of the arrest of the journalist from the Didban Iran, stating that Mehrdad Aladin is the brother of Kourosh Aladin, a colleague in the Persian section of Voice of America.

There is still no information available regarding the reasons for Mehrdad Aladin’s arrest.
