Security forces arrested Parviz Sedaghat, an economic journalist and editor-in-chief of the journal Naqd-e Eqtesad-e Siyasi (Critique of Political Economy), on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Parviz Sedaghat is an economic journalist, political economy researcher, and translator. He has served as editor-in-chief of the newspapers Sarmayeh and Bourse monthly, as well as the quarterly journal Hesabdar-e Rasmi. The newspaper Sarmayeh had previously had its license revoked. Sedaghat currently serves as editor-in-chief of the journal Naqd-e Eqtesad-e Siyasi.
Judicial and security crackdowns, along with disruptions to the professional activities of journalists and media outlets, remain a recurring pattern in Iran. According to a report by the Organization for Defending the Free Flow of Information (DeFFI), at least 95 Iranian journalists and media outlets faced judicial or security measures in the first six months of 2025. During this period, at least 46 new legal cases were filed against journalists and media, at least six journalists experienced temporary detention, and in trials held, Iranian journalists were collectively sentenced to 22 years and three months in prison and fined over 50 million tomans.
