Parisa Salehi, a journalist residing in Karaj, was released from Kachoui Prison on September 17, 2024, after serving her five-month sentence.
Shortly after her release, Parisa Salehi announced on her X (Twitter) account, sharing a photo of herself with her mother, that she had been freed following the completion of her sentence. She had been imprisoned in Kachoui Prison in Karaj since April 28, 2024.
Parisa Salehi is a journalist living in Karaj and a master’s degree student in economics at the University of Tehran. Previously, the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj, presided over by Mousa Assef Al-Hosseini, sentenced Parisa Salehi to one year in prison for “propaganda against the regime,” along with a two-year travel ban, a two-year ban on online activities, and a two-year exile to Zanjan.
