Continued Detention of Azhdar Piri, Editor of the Monthly Research of Nations

The temporary detention of Azhdar Piri, the editor of the monthly magazine “International Journal of Nations Research”, continues into the fourth week since his arrest. This media activist has been deprived of legal representation and visits with his family during his detention.

According to a source informed by the Defending free flow of Information (DeFFI), the temporary detention order for Azhdar Piri, who was arrested by intelligence officers on Monday, October 21, 2024, has been extended. Since his arrest, Piri has been denied visits with family and access to a lawyer.

Details regarding the reasons for his detention and the charges against Azhdar Piri remain unknown. Intelligence officers arrested him at his home in Karaj on Monday, October 21, 2024. Following his arrest, they conducted a search of his home and confiscated several personal items, including his mobile phone and laptop.
