{"id":3269,"date":"2025-04-29T10:59:33","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T10:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/?p=3269"},"modified":"2025-05-26T09:51:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T09:51:07","slug":"five-the-number-of-journalists-imprisoned-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/five-the-number-of-journalists-imprisoned-in-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Five; The Number of Journalists Imprisoned in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Today, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at least five journalists are imprisoned in Iranian jails: Nasrin Hasani in Bojnord prison, Jina Modares Gorji in Sanandaj prison, and Shirin Saeedi, Mostafa Nemati, and Reza Valizadeh in Evin prison, Tehran.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/tag\/nasrin-hasani\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/tag\/nasrin-hasani\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Nasrin Hosseini<\/strong><\/a> was transferred to prison in Bojnord on January 4, 2024, after appearing at Branch 2 of the Execution Court in Bojnord to serve her sentence. This journalist residing in Bojnord and the editor-in-chief of the weekly &#8220;Seyahat-e Sharq&#8221; is currently serving a sentence of two years and one month issued against her in three separate cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/tag\/shirin-saeedi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shirin Saeedi<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison on December 23, 2023, after being summoned to the prosecutor\u2019s office. This economic journalist was sentenced to five years in prison in a lower court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/tag\/jina-modares-gorji\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jina Modares Gorji<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0a journalist living in Sanandaj and women\u2019s rights activist, was arrested on Saturday, November 2, 2024, after visiting the Criminal Execution Branch in Sanandaj and has been transferred for a 16-month prison term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/tag\/reza-valizadeh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reza Valizadeh<\/a><\/strong>, a former Radio Farda reporter, was arrested shortly after returning to Iran by the security agencies of the Islamic Republic. The Iranian-American journalist has been sentenced to 10 years in prison along with additional penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deffi.org\/en\/tag\/mostafa-nemati\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mostafa Nemati<\/a><\/strong>, an economic journalist and researcher, is imprisoned in Evin Prison.
