Mr. Abedi&#8217;s one-year prison sentence had previously been upheld by the Seventh Branch of the Zahedan Court of Appeals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Federation of Journalists has reported that this sentence was issued following a complaint by a representative of the Inspection Organization in Chabahar, accusing Soltan-Ali Abedi of &#8220;spreading falsehoods&#8221;; a conviction attributed to the publication of a report by this journalist regarding corruption in the Zahedan municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this November, Farshid Abedi, the director of the Diyar-e Ayar news site, also reported being summoned to the prosecutor&#8217;s office and informed of charges against him.
